Here are some photos of my latest tapestry. Our local tapestry group has entered a group project into the American Tapestry Alliance's unjuried biennial show called Pacific Portals. We each chose a country that had a shoreline on the Pacific Ocean. Mine represents the Mariana Trench and Islands in the middle of the Pacific.
Each tapestry could not be larger than 10 x 10 inches and we decided that our group's pieces would be 'tied' together by a particular blue coloured embroidery floss.
Other members have woven Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Japan & China. They will be displayed together this summer at a gallery in Long Beach, California.
I am very pleased with this piece. I wove it quite quickly and used a number of the new techniques that I learnt in last summer's course with Jean-Pierre & Yael.
